AT-Banken in Zeiten des Coronavirus

Sorgen um einen Anstieg von Kreditausfällen aufgrund der Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung des Coronavirus haben die Risikoaufschläge von Senior Bankanleihen merklich ansteigen lassen. Es ist damit zu rechnen, dass der erwartete Wirtschaftsabschwung aufgrund der Corona-Krise sich auch in den Bankbilanzen niederschlagen wird.

Laut OeNB sind die Branchen Tourismus und Gastronomie sowie Verkehr besonders schwer von der Krise betroffen. Die Sektoren haben insgesamt einen relativ geringen Anteil von 8,4% bzw. EUR 13,4 Mrd. am, von der OeNB zusammengestellten, Gesamtkreditportfolio (per Ende 2019) ausgewählter Branchen in Österreich.

Die österreichische Regierung hat ein gezieltes Hilfspaket beschlossen, um die negativen Effekte auf die Wirtschaftsentwicklung abzumildern. Vor allem steht die Beschaffung und Bereitstellung an Liquidität im Vordergrund. Darüber hinaus wurde mit den Banken vereinbart, Kreditstundungen zu nutzen, um Kreditausfälle abzuwenden.

Das Bankensystem ist auf einen wirtschaftlichen Abschwung und daraus folgenden Anstieg der Kreditausfälle besser gerüstet als zur Zeit der letzten Finanzkrise. Die Inanspruchnahme von Kreditlinien durch Geschäftskunden und Stundungen von Krediten erhöhen jedoch den Liquiditätsbedarf der Banken. Die EZB hat durch eine Reihe von Anpassungen gezeigt, dass sie gewillt ist, Banken in der Eurozone auch in dieser Krisensituation mit Liquidität zu versorgen.
